John Winter

Let me introduce myself. I grew up in the Seattle area and returned to the Pacific Northwest after being away for twenty years. I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and my Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degrees from the University of Washington and did some post graduate work prior to working in industry. I worked as a hardware design engineer for over 20 years and also held several engineering management positions including the position of Technical Director. Several products that I designed were very successful (reliable and profitable) for the companies that employed me.

I have worked for Boeing, Honeywell, General Electric and also for several smaller companies. I was the 8th employee at a company in Ohio that made color graphics computers to function as man-machine interfaces for industrial applications. There were 135 employees when I left after 10.5 years to return to Seattle. I designed custom CMOS application specific integrated circuits at Honeywell, industrial measurement and control systems at both Industrial Nucleonics and IDT, trunking radio controllers and two very complex surface mount processor boards that interfaced properly into existing computer products to provide added processing power.

I have been teaching digital electronics courses and labs at DeVry University in Federal Way, Washington since July of 2003.
