DeVry University and I both believe in "hands on" education. Each of the courses that I teach has a lab component, where students use both equipment and theory to reinforce the learning that they do in the classroom and at home. Tactile and experiential learning complement listening and reading.
I have over 25 years of experience in industry, and 5 years of teaching, at institutions ranging from a community college, to a large state university, to a small private college, to my present appointment at DeVry University (a large private university). As an electronic engineering generalist, I believe that my students should have the ability to choose the best technology for a given application:
Analog - including device-level design
Digital - including hardware and software Digital Signal Processing
Software - for both stand-alone computers and embedded microprocessors
Radio Frequency Techniques - LF, HF, and microwaves
